In a sluggish economy where many advertising and design agencies are struggling, two Northeast Ohio firms are actually expanding their operations. In April, Akron-based Mindgrab Media, an interactive design agency, opened a Cleveland office in the Midtown Building located at East 36th and Perkins Avenue. The 4,000 sq. ft. space will allow Mindgrab Media to better serve the greater Cleveland market.
Mindgrab Media, which opened its doors in December 2007, already has 5,000 sq. ft. of space in the Akron Global Accelerator Building. This includes a 2,500 sq. ft. video production studio with a cyclorama wall, and loft space for its interactive design team on the building’s top floor.
Says David Walker, Mindgrab Media Vice President of Creative and Managing Partner, “The primary reason we opened a Cleveland office is because of our relationship with Boondock Walker who also is located in the Midtown Building. Boondock Walker is producing some of the best strategic branding and communication design work in the country. Our two firms have fit together extremely well working on joint projects.”
Over the past year, the two groups combined their skill sets to produce an innovative website and interactive tools for Tarkett, a $2 billion worldwide leader in flooring and sports surfaces. Boondock Walker was responsible for site strategy and design, while Mindgrab Media handled programming and development. A key component of the site is a custom “visualizer” tool that allows consumers to upload photos of their own home interiors, and place Tarkett flooring products within those photos. The unique features of this revolutionary application make it among the most advanced in the industry.
