Boondock Walker a Proud Sponsor of FlashStarts’ Demo Day

Posted by: Mark Nead

Flashstarts_DemoDay Over 300 people met at Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre on Monday, August 18, for Demo Day to celebrate the second graduating class of entrepreneurs from the FlashStarts business accelerator program. Boondock Walker, a Silver Sponsor, was proud to be among the mentors, supporters and 57 accredited investors who gathered to hear the 12 outstanding young companies introduce their leaders and deliver presentations of their ventures.

Earlier this Summer, FlashStarts partners Charles Stack and Jennifer Neundorfer selected these 12 companies from a field of over 200 to participate in their 3 month Summer boot camp program. Selected businesses were each given $25,000 for an equity stake, as well as business mentorship and office resources.

“It’s a thrilling time to be in Cleveland, on many levels. Accelerators like FlashStarts are key contributors to the surge of entrepreneurs who are planting their flags here and calling Cleveland home,” says Mark Nead, Boondock Walker partner and co-founder.

According to JumpStart, a nationally-renowned Cleveland-based accelerator, the amount of equity capital raised by Northeast, Ohio companies doubled from $103 million to $212 million between 2004-2012.

“The accelerators and the early stage businesses they support are absolutely changing the business landscape. Some of the most innovative new technologies are being born right here in our backyard. Their leaders are young, highly intelligent and focused. It’s an equally exciting time for a business like ours’, as they know the critical importance of building their brands, even in the early stages, as a means to communicating value to potential investors.”

Following the program, the 12 companies are now on their own to pursue funding, validate their products and services and obtain paying customers. Here’s an overview of each of them:
